thoughtful details

why we love this product...

"so this happens to be one of our favorite products, and so much so, that our turkish kilim pillows are all over the house in every room! so the super cool backstory about these pillow covers is that they are all handmade from discarded turkish rugs. there might be an issue with a piece of the rug such as incorrect dye or pattern, and instead of discarding them, the rugs are cut into pieces and turned into pillow covers! so what you get is a truly unqiue, one-of-a-kind pillow cover! we love these because of the texture and the story that goes with each one!"

provenance

turkish kilim textiles are a type of traditional flatweave rug that originated in the middle east and central asia. kilim textiles are thought to have been first produced by nomadic tribes in turkey, who used them as floor coverings and blankets in their tents. these textiles were also used to decorate the walls of their tents, and as an important part of their social and spiritual life.

today, kilim textiles are still produced in turkey, although the designs and materials used have evolved over time. they are still popular as decorative items, and are highly valued for their unique beauty and craftsmanship.
